NAME: The Deamhan Fhole
KINGDOM AT A GLANCE:
The Deamhan Fhole are a loose confederacy of clans organized around individual vampire bloodlines. The clans are populated by a vampiric species that calls itself, as a race, the same name as the loose confederation of clans. Deamhan Fhole are disorganized, fractured, and volatile; easily going to war with each other as they would with their neighbors. Individual clans make their own decisions and build their own infrastructure rather than follow any organized system. In the Deamhan Fhole, might makes right meaning that the most powerful clans have the most authority within their loose organization, but even the most powerful clan knows it cannot bully all of the clans at once. There is no higher governance, no great council. In times of need, the clans may join together to face a common threat, but this is far from typical. In the long run, such immortal creatures play the game of politics much differently. Where a human kingdom may rally with its neighbor for a greater good, the Deamhan Fhole know that a Human's long term goal is but a blink of the eye in their minds. Tread lightly in the highlands lest you be made thrall, cattle, or meal by the denizens of the Night that live there.

SIZE AND LOCATION: Large, but sparsely populated, the Deamhan Fhole occupy the greater highland area of the world. While easily the size of most of the larger, powerful nations, the territory of the Deamhan Fhole is a shifting network of clan presence and political ties among a relatively sparse, but long lived population. The area is a massive swathe of woods and forests of varying density intermixed with rugged hills and rough ground.
WEALTH: The wealth of the Deamhan Fhole varies clan to clan. Most are poor, but few are destitute. A select few are wealthy, for the clans, and the slightly larger amount left fall among the moderately successful of the clans. This, however, can shift very easily as clans constantly war among each other, both overtly and covertly, hoping for the chance to plant a dagger in the back of their rivals.
STABILITY: The Deamhan Fhole are highly unstable, if not outright volatile. Clans vie for power against old rivals and new upstarts all while trying to solidify their position in the quagmire of vampire political games.
DANGER TO TRAVELERS: Generally, no one travels to the Deamhan Fhole territory, but select traders occasionally obtain a treaty with certain clans of the vampire bloodlines. Those without such treaties, and even those who possess them, risk their property and lives simply traveling along Deamhan Fhole borders. Often it is better to wait for the clans to approach rather than seek them out.
FORM OF GOVERNMENT: The Deamhan Fhole have no true form of government, instead relying on a loose, and volatile, confederacy of clans.
FREEDOM AND OPPRESSION: Generally, the Deamhan Fhole are oppressive. The taking of slaves is a common occurrence, both as thralls and as 'cattle' or a food source for the vampire clans. Freedom is a faded memory within Fhole territory.
COMMON SPECIES: Primarily Deamhan Fhole vampires, though a sizable, though fluctuating, number of other species live within the territory as thralls or slaves.
MILITARY FOCUS: Deamhan Fhole are primarily an unruly rabble of vampiric warriors more focused on raiding and taking slaves or valuables. When the clans go to war, the majority of the troops under the clan banners are Trodai. Trodai are Deamhan Fhole warriors wearing whatever armor can be scavenged, if any, and using simple weapons such as swords, spears, knives, bows, and shields. Wealthier clans can afford a small number of warriors armed and armored at the chieftain's expense. These warriors are called Curadh and are armed with the best weapons and armor available. Lastly, it is not unknown for Deamhan Fhole to leave their territory and seek employment as assassins, thugs, murderers, and mercenaries. Those that ply the trade of the sell-sword are generally referred to as Shaor. Shaor are often well trained and disciplined, though very few in number. They are armed and armored with their preferred equipment of choice, often taking foreign tactics and equipment as their own and plying their trade. Some Shaor return to their clans, though this is somewhat rare.
TECHNOLOGY: Generally medieval
