The corpse of a male lay upon the obsidian alter of Morryxa. Hands cupped together in the center of the chest as eyes were closed. Armor of leather and cloth covered his body as a hood attempted to hide his face in shadow. An air of peace about the body. His possessions rested against the side of the alter. A sword of ancient steel, a crossbow of yew, a quiver full of bolts, and a satchel stuffed full. Great care had been taken to place the male and all of his worldly possessions perfectly into their places to it all looked beautiful.
Eyes suddenly opened with blood red staring at the stone above. A deep gasp of air as if he was drowning filled his lungs. A scream echoed loudly through the room as the torso of the man rose. His hand went up to his face as he breathed in and out heavily. Tynan was alive once more. But what had happened to lead to it this time? He had gone into a ruin with a pair of mages to discover the secrets of an ancient elven society. They past traps and guardians until they were almost to the final room, a library filled with secrets and lost knowledge. They were jogging down the hall........
Then the impatient one rushed ahead and tripped the trap. The entire floor dropped out and they were impaled as spikes rose from the floor to meet their falling forms before they could react. He had died and so had they. But he came back to life while they would not. Their corpses would forever decorate the ruins of that place, while he was once again within the Alter of Morryxa. The temple within the heart of Darkwood. The beginning of his journey after every end. The last place he ever wanted to be.
Good evening my love. Welcome back to the land of the living. Did you enjoy your dream? Your death?
Tynan ignored that feminine voice, her voice. He got off of the alter and grabbed his stuff. He needed to get to the road, the Darkwood Road. He needed to get out of these accursed lands blighted by the very goddess that should be making it fertile and flourish with life. He began to head towards the stairs that led out of the room that always welcomed his life and his death.
Enjoy your travels. You should head West. It is my will you go West.
Several hours it took him, but he was finally on the road. East or West? He only had two options. Either direction would mean more or less the same. It would just take him through the Darkwood. It is my will you go West. He had only one option. He had to go West, so he went West. Perhaps this time he wouldn't be attacked by a giant while traveling the road.
