NAME: Canavarin Vadisi; Valley of the Beast People
KINGDOM AT A GLANCE: Canacarin Vadisi is a land that sits along the eastern side of Ardell. It is situated in the location where the deserts further south meet the open plains to the north. A mountain range runs through the middle land that separates the two primary biomes of the land with a large freshwater lake that splits the mountain range into two sections. A river runs from the edge of the eastern end of the mountains towards the coast, a river on the western edge runs a ways before branching to run towards central Ardell and towards the southern coast, and a river running from the lake down south into the desert. The temperatures in both the plains and desert tend to be hot during the day and cold at night with the desert having the most extremes between the two. The change between the seasons is rather mild with temperatures only adjusting by 10 to 15 degrees at most between summer and winter.
The land was once under the control of the Empire and used the cities as key garrisons for their troops. Their was high levels of racism from the humans of the Empire towards the local beastfolk. Tension was common between the two and rebellions would erupt often. None of the rebellions were able succeed and were always crushed ruthlessly by the Empire forces. When the Empire fell ten years ago, the beastfolk took the chance to overthrow their human overlords and kicked out all forces that were not killed. They allowed the peaceful humans to remain that wished, even granting them equality with the beastfolk just to prove they were better than the Empire. Tribes of orcs arrived shortly after the Empire fell from the North and settled into the mountains. Tension has remained a minimum between them and the locals, even though skirmishes over hunting rights and resources break out between the orc and beastfolk tribes often.
SIZE AND LOCATION: Large
WEALTH: Medium; the cities have high levels of wealth while the tribal towns and villages are low to medium.
STABILITY: High; occasional warfare between different tribes does break out but rarely effects the cities or larger towns.
DANGER TO TRAVELERS: Medium; travel is relatively safe across the roads and the rivers, but bandit like tribes do pop up from time to time to harass and raid caravans. The environment is deadly when not respected and can kill even the hardiest of travelers if they do not take proper precautions.
FORM
OF GOVERNMENT: Each city and tribe has a ruler that controls their people, but little unifying laws exist as a whole across the land. The defense of each tribe and city is dependent on their own unless a treaty exists.
FREEDOM
AND OPPRESSION: The land is relatively free as no true hierarchy exists. All share a relative equality in status with only the chosen leaders standing higher. Little is outright banned and laws are mostly in place to keep people from murdering or harming each other in the street.
COMMON
SPECIES:
-Beastfolk: 85%
-Humans: 8%
-Orcs: 7%
MILITARY FOCUS: Each settlement, no matter the size, raises militia and armies to suit
their own current needs with make-ups of troops that vary. Light to
medium troops make up the bulk of all forces with few heavy troops due
to the demands of the environment. Auxilary and cavalry are a favored
with an emphasis on spears for infantry that is used. There are multiple
schools of swordsmanship and martial arts, but they do not exist in
enough number to provide more than a band of elite forces.
TECHNOLOGY: High middle ages in the cities; Stone age to High middle in the villages
PLAYER CONTROLLED: No, all are welcome to use as a setting or build upon.
