NAME: The Sons Of War; almost always referred to as 'The Sons'
KINGDOM AT A GLANCE: A mercenary company formed immediately after the dissolution of the Empire by former officers. Utilizing the power vacuum left and the fragmentation of land into numerous kingdoms, these officers found it profitable to work as a mercenary. The Sons are known for their expert pikemen and aggressive offense. Cunning and innovative, The Sons are still a growing mercenary company trying to establish itself across the Land.
SIZE AND LOCATION: Small. Nomads.
WEALTH: Low to Medium. As earlier stated, The Sons are still establishing themselves and attempting to grow. Wealth is still not as high as wanted but the ambition is there.
STABILITY: Medium to High. With brilliant sergeant-at-arms, the discipline within The Sons is high. Also, a factor could be the commanders' lenient approach to morality. As in - where victory is claimed, the spoils of war remain to the men. Of course, there is always a border that must not be crossed.
DANGER TO TRAVELERS: Low. The Sons do not meddle with common folk or travelers. They will not provoke unless provoked and individual elements that like bullying or harassing any common folk in peaceful times, the sergeants-at-arms will quickly deliver punishment via a whip or a baton.
FORM OF GOVERNMENT: A mercenary company led by one Captain. The captain has numerous taskmasters that overlook the larger elements of the company. Sergeants-at-arms compromise unit leaders.
FREEDOM AND OPPRESSION: The word of the captain is law. Other than that, the men are mercenaries. They love the freedom that it grants them and the coin. If internal strife occurs, a sergeant-at-arms or a taskmaster would intervene.
COMMON SPECIES: Mainly human but completely open to other races. Any sort of racism between men is punishable and would very likely be more than just a whip or a baton. The Captain is a man who values discipline, cohesion and teamwork among his men the most.
MILITARY FOCUS: The Sons of War are a very versatile force capable of being utilized in any scenario - siege defense, siege of forts, night attacks, ambushes, hit and run, infiltration (could deploy a simple squad or a number of men) and straight out battle. What they lack is - cavalry. While being flexible, they certainly have their own specialization that they are known for and this is their aggressive maneuvers with their piking units for which they are mainly recognized.
Numbering around 1000 men, the bulk being pike men and heavy infantry shield bearers. Their auxiliary units would be light infantry focused on flanking and missile units. There are also ten units capable of utilizing siege equipment. Granted, siege weapons have to be provided by employer. Also, there are a few mages travelling with the company.
Generally, The Sons are quite a mix-and-match company that utilizes that to their benefit in battle.
