NAME: Jean-Jacques Gaspard Robert de Leon, though he prefers to go by "Jack"
GENDER: Male
AGE: Young Adult
SPECIES: Half-Elf
DESCRIPTION:
Jack is of average height and build with brown hair and beard kept reasonably long. He's often seen in modest clothing befitting a traveler, though when working his trade its not uncommon that he sometimes changes into more traditional mage garb. Generally, he carries no weapons or armor, but does possess a utilitarian knife and his carved staff though these are hardly intended for any real amount of self defense.

PROFESSION: Thaumaturge/Mage
WEALTH: Generally, Jack's level of income is utterly reliant on his work availability and where he is currently located. This means that it often ranges from that of a common beggar to someone able to afford a few days rest at a modest inn.
COMBAT ROLE: Jack forgoes actual physical combat and prefers to keep his distance, if not avoid things entirely. Faced with no other alternative, he'll often try to magic his way through an issue with varying degrees of success or failure.
STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES:
Skilled in the ways of magic and the arcane, Jack is still far from mastering his craft. Where he excels in knowledge, he falls short in proficiency. Coupled with a healthy dose of forgetfulness and a habit of mishap, his attempts to do much of anything are truly a gamble.

MAJOR MOTIVATIONS: Jack wishes to learn and master his craft, though if he can make a good amount of coin, glory, and catch the attention of a pretty woman or two along the way then why not?
MAGIC:
Jack is a thaumaturge, or one who practices a rather traditional form of magic. He is skilled and learned in his craft, far more so than most students of his age, though while the knowledge of a craft is meaningful, proficiency is far more valuable. Lacking the proficiency that comes with years of practice, Jack's results are varied and unpredictable at best.

BACKGROUND:
Born in a far-away land that he has since forgotten the name of, something he attributes to constant exposure to magical mishaps over the years, Jean-Jacques Gaspard Robert de Leon prefers to simply be called 'Jack' for ease of conversation. Apprenticed to a mage at a very young age, Jack came to Ardell as a boy and quickly fell in love with the continent and its peoples.
He spent many years with his master until, one day, the man disappeared when Jack was a young man. He spent months searching for the man before giving up and inheriting the mage's possessions, something that admittedly happens quite frequently to those who consistently poke, prod, and attempt to befriend the arcane powers and realms. After a year or two working out of his master's old shop in the city of Pern, Jack decided that he would only be a young man once and once only. He sold the shop and anything he felt he no longer needed before placing everything else in safe storage. Taking only the bare essentials and whatever he felt he needed to survive and thrive as a traveling mage, he left Pern and ventured forth into Ardell.
