NAME: The Citadel of the Iron Dawn, The Citadel
KINGDOM AT A GLANCE: The Citadel is a semi-monastic fortress that trains elite knights and footmen. There is a small town (Highland) that has sprung up on the same lakeborne island as the fortress. The denizens of The Citadel have taken to protecting this town and the surrounding region with regular patrols of trainees and their teachers.
SIZE AND LOCATION: Small, The Citadel and it's attendant town (Highland) take up a small island in the lake lands east of Ethenveld.
WEALTH: Medium, The Citadel does sell services to local governments, though they are very picky about their employers.
STABILITY: High, The Citadel is made up of men and women who are disciplined as a rule, and who patrol the surrounding waterways and land.
DANGER TO TRAVELERS: Low, Knights of The Citadel patrol the water and land around their island regularly.
FORM OF GOVERNMENT: The Citadel of the Iron Dawn is ruled by a council of five. Three of these are the ranking members of the knighthoods, with the fourth being a representative of the nearby town, and the fifth being the High Lord of the Iron Dawn being elected from within the whole of The Citadel. The three orders are the Order of the Dawn Blade, who are elite mounted and infantry knights trained in melee weapons and war crafts; the Order of the Iron Leaf, elite rangers trained in stealth, espionage, and ranged warfare; and the Order of the Iron Will, elite war mages and clerics who specialize in either evocative war magic or enchanting crafts.
The current High Lord of the Iron Dawn is Markus Tamrien, an Iron Leaf trained Ranger. The other members of the council are Augustine Nalear (Female Human Knight) of the Dawn Blade, Elrodiel Damh (Female Elf Ranger-Knight of Hafayne) of the Iron Leaf, Ygraille Tallfoot (Halfling Mage) of the Iron Will, and Daegan Moghson (Half-Orc Smith) of Highland.
FREEDOM AND OPPRESSION: Knights of The Citadel are expected to have a high degree of discipline and self-restraint, but are allowed any freedom they desire, so long as it doesn't interfere with their duties. The nearby town supports them, but is self-governed.
COMMON SPECIES: All species are welcome, so long as they can make it through training and keep to the laws of the order.
MILITARY FOCUS: Elite Knights, Rangers, Siege Engineers, and War Mages
TECHNOLOGY: Medieval, supplemented by enchanting magic and a small amount of war magic.
PLAYER CONTROLLED: Yes
