Tingon the Star of the West, The Uireborn
NAME: Tingon Loriston, The Star of the West, The Uireborn
GENDER: Male
AGE: Appears Middle-Aged
SPECIES: High Elf
DESCRIPTION: Tingon is fair of skin, with piercing blue eyes and long, wild black hair. His ears are pointed, as are all of his race, but perhaps less so. An oddity amongst those of any elf kind, he sports a full beard which is only moderately kept. By his movements and garb he is easily seen as an elf with fashion and habits pointing to a half dozen cultures that have risen and fell over the last few centuries. Relics of the Empire, trinkets of the Dwarven Halls, and even an oddly marked rose-gold totem with Saurian script on it. He speaks with an archaic accent and affectation, and seems very deliberate in his movements and manners, almost forbidding in his movements. He carries no weapon, not staff or blade, and is bedecked in subtle jewelry that never seems to be the same pieces twice from day to day.
PROFESSION: Smith & Enchanter
WEALTH: Wealthy beyond even the common conceptions of wealth in today's age.
COMBAT ROLE: Mostly useless. Support mage.
STRENGTHS:
- Immortal Hand & Eye: Simply put, the gifts Tingon possesses may not level cities, or destroy armies. They may not protect him in combat. But as one of the last High Elves from the mysterious Sunken Isles of Estel to the far west, he has been gifted by mysterious forces. He does not age, or sicken, and his wisdom knows few rivals. His skill at crafting is a wonder to behold, and there is little that any mind can imagine that the Uireborn cannot create in time.
WEAKNESSES:
- Fearful Symmetry: Though wise and powerful in the mystic arts, Tingon is no Warlord. His frame is slight, and at times frail and taken by mysterious illness of his lungs, rendering him unable to do much other than move at a sedate pace and meditate or study. Exceptionally wet or humid climates can be trying on him because of this, as can exceptionally dry and hot climates.
MAJOR MOTIVATIONS: Knowledge, Power, Wealth
MAGIC: Magic of the Elves of Estel. Centered around creation of talismans of fantastic power and ability that can warp the very laws of nature and reality, though it is whispered such power can come at a terrible cost.
BACKGROUND: Tingon is one of the last of the High Elves, if not the last, of the Isle of Estel. The Estellian Elves were a race of highly advanced elves whose main focus was research, creation, and magic. It is said they were favored by their Gods, or all Gods, or something. They were imbued, so the story goes, with a fraction of the spark of divinity, to do with as they saw fit. Much is lost to the common world of their history, as they were all but wiped out in a massive cataclysm centuries ago, with only a very few surviving. Some say that they abused their powers given to them by the Gods, and that thus the Deities that once blessed them cursed them in their wroth.
Whatever the reason, the Isle of Estel sunk beneath the waves, and with it most of it's wonders and dreams. Now, most of it's remaining descendants, which are few and far between, are regarded as myths. It is not uncommon for an ambitious 'Petty Elf', as the Estellian call their cousin kindreds, to pose as one of the Estellian to attempt to garner a reputation or the like. But what is clear is that they are all eventually found out as frauds because they lack the Spark native to all Estel elves.
Tingon was young but promising when the Cataclysm broke, and though he perhaps knows of the details, he will not speak of it or his past. He has spent the interening centuries seeking out the lore of all the people of the World, some say to even lands beyond the Mainland, dark and wild and full of mystery. He is known in the Lost City, in Ashdell, in Idmidum and even Mystmarch. The name may change, but the face and person never does. And where he is known, whispers follow of wonders both bright and terrible, and of mysteryies yet to be understood.
Some say he surpassed the doom of his own people, and has become more than a mere mortal in some way. And others that he is cursed to wander the mortal lands, alive and never dying, to pay for the sins of his people. None know for sure who he is, what he has become, or what his ultimate goal is. Most do not even know of his identity as an Estellian elf. But all who know of him regard him with a mixture of fear and awe, and the rare occurence of pity for those who know his people.
